As urban planners and geographers, we are interested in the world around us. As a study association, Sarphati ensures that the student becomes familiar with the programme, the university and the city of Amsterdam. We want the student to feel heard and known through active participation and self-organization of educational and social activities. The goal of study associations is to provide services to students related to the study programme and promoting social interaction between fellow students and teachers. In addition, students can always turn to Sarphati for questions, comments and advice when it comes to education.
The many activities organized by Sarphati are organized for and by its members themselves. Sarphati currently has fifteen committees consisting active members of all year levels. Besides weekly drinks and parties at the hippest locations in Amsterdam and an annual gala, lectures, activities, academic excursions and in-house days are organized. There are also four annual trips to diverse locations, unique for an association of our size. In addition to a winter trip, you can choose between a city trip, round trip or far away trip. In addition, the October weekend takes place at the beginning of the year and the hitchhike weekend later in the year. Sarphati also publishes Den Uytvreter, its own magazine, four times a year.
The Sarphati room is the heart of the association. It is located in the B/C building in room B 1.06a. It can be found next to the Common Room and the rooms of all the other study associations of the Fv-FMG.
Sarphati is part of the Faculty Association of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Amsterdam.
